The pressure on resources and resourcing
As the extent of commercial expectations continues to ratchet up, pressure is seemingly delaying any expenditure as long as possible. Appointing talent to replace staff who have left is stalled as every month represents another months worth of salary left in the budget. Upgrades, preventative strategies, even risk mitigation is vulnerable to being held off just a little longer... Along with this, our appetite for risk is being continually stretched in the quest to satisfy the insatiable demand for shareholders return, and the fence is being pushed further into the danger zone. This is pressure testing many who we often hear referred to (rather glibly perhaps) as 'our greatest asset'. Add into this the human propensity to ruminate and anguish over the 'what ifs' and 'if only' scenarios and this is exposing the amazing talent we are privileged to have work with and for us to stress that is undermining their health and well being!
